Rome is one of the best connected international cities in the world that fully meets the traveler’s requirements.

There are two main airports in Rome: Rome Fiumicino International Airport and Rome Ciampino airport. Both are located outside the city and well connected to the city centre.

The main one, Leonardo da Vinci – better known as Fiumicino Airport – is one of the most technically advanced airport in Europe and it is located 26 km (15 miles) southwest of Rome.

Ciampino Airport, second to Fiumicino, is  located 20 km (12 miles) southeast of the city, where most charter flights land.

BY TRAIN

Fiumicino-Rome 

At the airport’s railway station the Shuttle-Train Leonardo Express direct service takes just 31 minutes to get to Termini railway station, in the city centre (intersecting with the Metro Lines A & B) and leaves every half hour from 6.23 a.m. to 11.23 p.m.°.

Rome-Fiumicino

To get to Fiumicino from Termini Station, the shuttle service leaves from platform 25 every half hour, from 5.35 a.m. until 10.35 p.m.

The ticket’s price is €14 (one way) and it may be purchased at ticket office, from self-service machines, travel agents’, authorized vendors, Trenitalia counters near platforms and at www.trenitalia.com.

BY BUS

The bus service  is available from and to Termini railway station and it is provided from several companies. The tickets may be purchased also on board.

Average cost:  € 4 ( one way ) – Journey time: 40 min.

BY TAXI

Taxis for Rome are found at the exits of both the domestic and international arrival terminals.

Fixed fares are set for journeys to/from Fiumicino airport to Rome city centre (within the Aurelian Walls) and vice versa:  € 48 – Journey time: 45 min.

Ciampino Airport

BY BUS

The bus service  from Ciampino Airport is available from and to Termini railway station and it is provided from several companies.

The tickets may be purchased also on board. Average cost:  € 6 – Journey time: 35 min.

BY TAXI

Taxis for Rome stop in the small square in front of the airport itself. Fixed fares are set for journeys to/from Ciampino airport to Rome city centre (within the Aurelian Walls) and vice versa:

€ 30 – Journey time: 25 min. For journeys to/from Eurdistrict (the Palazzo dei Congressi area), the taximeter fare is applied.  Average cost:  € 30 – Journey Time: 20 min.

BY METRO

Special buses connect Ciampino airport to the underground station of Anagnina (Metro A) with trains running to the city centre. Buses for Anagnina station leave from the square in front of the airport.

Termini central railway station is the point of arrival and departure for almost all trains from Italy and abroad. The majority of public buses leaves from Termini to the different areas of the city and the two existing underground lines have their changing terminal there.
